The OORC is a non-profit group dedicated to promotion of mountain bike trails. We have been an IMBA affiliated club since our inception in 1997, and continue to be one of the most active trail advocacy groups in the state.

The OORC continues to work with Devil’s Den State Park and Lake Leatherwood City Park. We have reached the 500 volunteer hour mark at Devil’s Den and Lake Leatherwood parks and are on pace to eclipse the same number at Lake Fayetteville sometime this year. During those hours of work we have created over 12 miles of new trail at Lake Leatherwood and added several miles of trail to the Fossil Flats Loop and Holt Road loops at Devil’s Den State Park.

We are involved in Fayetteville’s Adopt-A-Park Program. OORC currently have adopted Lake Wilson and Lake Fayetteville. At Lake Fayetteville, we have rerouted several sections to help fix some erosion problems from improper trail routing and heavy use by trail users. Our club has spent countless hours doing trail work, picking up trash, and educating trail users about responsible trail use.

The OORC has worked with other mountain bike clubs throughout the state. We have helped the Mercy Mountain Bike Club work on trails at Springhill Park in Barling, Arkansas. Springhill Park is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. We have also organized an IMBA Epic Ride and Trail Work Day on the Womble trail near Mt. Ida, AR. We have organized 3 IMBA Trail Care visits to Arkansas working on trails in NW Arkansas, Mt. Home, Mt. View, Little Rock, and the Womble trail.

The OORC is also working on developing a strong relationship with the Hobbs State Management Area and the Madison County Wildlife Management Area to provide additional places for mountain bikers to ride. Also, we are currently working on two trail proposals with the Ozark National Forest. How Kuff has lead the effort of building, maintaining, and hopefully completing a signed and marked trail system in the Upper Buffalo Headwaters. OORC President, Don West, is working on a trail proposal at Lake Wedington that could add an additional 15+ miles of trails within 20 minutes of Fayetteville. Needless to say we keep ourselves busy.

Did we forget to mention that we ride? And ride we do. The OORC has lead organized group rides all over the state of Arkansas, Southern Missouri, and Eastern Oklahoma. We truly are a regional mountain bike club.
